To support manufacturing operations by conducting to reduce downtime and maintain efficiency and capacity of facilities and processes, via a combination of proactive and reactive approaches (Total Productive Maintenance / Troubleshooting).
The role holder will be able to develop instruction manuals, provide reports on work carried out and ensure that equipment records are kept up to date. They will also be able to read engineering drawings to identify issues and opportunities.
The role requires significant drive and sense of process ownership to be able to work strategically and systematically as well as react promptly to any breakdowns, communicating with the Manufacturing Services Manager and working efficiently to resolve issues.
Training and Experience
Apprenticeship trained, qualified to a HNC or HND level, or have equivalent experience
Maintenance experience with light manufacturing machines – Ideally with food or pharmaceutical equipment
Troubleshooting experience to resolve pressing in-process issues with equipment
Experience with innovation via in-process trial and hands-on learning
Ability to document processes for equipment and write operating instructions
Experience maintaining a wide range of equipment
Experience with setting up liquid and powder filling machines, labelling machines, conveyors would be advantageous
Skills
Safety & Compliance: knowledge of HSE regulations and risk assessments in industrial environments
Process Engineering Knowledge – Strong understanding of process design, optimization, and control
Documentation: skilled in interpreting as well as writing Process Flow Diagrams and SOP’s
Data Analysis Tools: competence in using MS Excel or equivalent
Automation & Control Systems: understanding of PLCs, SCADA, and other industrial control systems
Advantageous: Quality Management Systems (QMS) – Experience with ISO standards and quality audits
Advantageous: Root Cause Analysis (RCA) – Proficiency in tools like 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
Advantageous: Ability to monitor and improve processes using statistical and process improvement methodologies (Statistical Process Control, Lean Six Sigma)
