ESG

Doing Business, the Right Way.

At Lake, we believe that success isn’t only measured by profit - it’s also about making a positive impact on the world around us. That’s why our approach to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) is embedded in all of our business decisions, building a more sustainable future.

Environmental: What We’re Doing

We’re committed to reducing our environmental impact and championing sustainable practices. Whether it’s cutting carbon emissions, improving energy efficiency, or embracing greener technologies, we’re taking meaningful steps to protect the planet.

Our immediate actions include initiatives such as installing LED lighting, training staff, and implementing waste reduction and sustainable packaging reporting. In addition, we are partnering with experts to define the starting point and guide the journey, and we interact with our local business community regarding data collection on building occupation and supporting investments to reduce our carbon footprint.

We offer a strong portfolio of environmentally sustainable technologies, with a supplier community that is dedicated to reducing their carbon footprint.

Our long-term goals include a comprehensive decarbonisation strategy, aiming to reduce our environmental footprint to meet country-recognised targets. We are committed to electric vehicles (EVs) and will achieve 100% conversion in 2026.

We recognise the importance of addressing emissions from employee transportation, upstream and downstream supply chain processes, and waste management. Over the next decade, we will implement projects designed to further reduce our emissions.

As members of the Chemical Business Association, we are part of the global initiative Responsible Care, which is a commitment to continual improvement across the entire supply chain. This covers health, safety, security and environmental elements.  Read more here: Responsible Care - Chemical Business Association

Social: What We Do

Since 2002, our business has been built on strong relationships with our suppliers, partners, customers and employees. We prioritise the health, safety, and wellbeing of our employees, customers, and communities.

We’re proud to foster a workplace that’s inclusive, respectful, and supportive. From employee wellbeing to community outreach and ethical sourcing, we’re building a culture that values fairness and human connection. Our internal awareness programmes and training efforts educate and engage our employees and stakeholders.

Our sites have multiple functions, from our Innovation Hub with collaborative spaces and our state-of-the-art laboratories to our storage and manufacturing facilities. Each site has different safety requirements, so it's essential that our employees remain safe while on site and when moving between locations.

Health and safety starts with the C-suite and cascades to every aspect of our business. Our dedicated QRESH team continually reviews guidelines and regulations supporting employee safety initiatives to recognise risk and minimise accidents and injury. Information is reported annually to the Chemical Business Association.

Governance

Governance is the backbone of trust. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct. High standards of Diversity, Equality and Inclusivity (DEI) ensure our community of leaders, employees, suppliers, customers and stakeholders collaborate with respect and purpose. Our governance practices are engaged to make responsible decisions that benefit stakeholders, not just for now, but for the long term.

Governance principles are documented, and asynchronous training for employees is made available on our ‘Your Growth Mindset’ learning management system to support in-person training.  Lake’s Quality Management System is the foundation of robust internal processes that ensure external compliance.
