EUROCORR 2026: Corrosion Protection is No Longer Just a Product Conversation
As the team reflect on EUROCORR 2026 in Dublin, one message stood out louder than any other:
Corrosion protection is shifting from a product conversation to a process and lifecycle conversation.
This year's event brought together corrosion specialists, engineers, manufacturers and asset owners from across Europe to discuss some of the industry's biggest challenges. While coatings, inhibitors and protection technologies remain critical, many of the conversations focused on something broader: how organisations can better manage corrosion across the entire lifecycle of an asset.
Looking Beyond the Product
Traditionally, corrosion has often been viewed as a downstream issue, addressed when signs of deterioration begin to appear. However, discussions throughout EUROCORR highlighted an increasing recognition that the greatest opportunities exist much earlier in the process.
Manufacturers are looking at corrosion from the perspective of:
Surface preparation
Manufacturing processes
Storage and warehousing
Transportation and logistics
Final installation and operation
Rather than asking,"Which corrosion product should we use?", many organisations are now asking,"How can we improve the entire process?"
Efficiency, Sustainability and Performance Must Work Together
Another recurring theme was the pressure facing manufacturers to reduce costs, waste and process time while maintaining high standards of corrosion protection.
Sustainability continues to influence purchasing decisions, but customers are increasingly seeking practical solutions that balance environmental goals with performance, reliability and commercial realities. The industry appears to be moving beyond sustainability as a standalone objective and towards integrating it within wider operational improvements.
The Rise of Data-Led Corrosion Management
Perhaps one of the most interesting developments was the growing interest in monitoring, data and asset visibility. Conversations highlighted a desire to move away from assumptions and towards evidence-based corrosion management.
The ability to monitor environmental conditions, storage environments and asset condition in real time is creating new opportunities for preventative maintenance and smarter decision-making. This shift towards connected, data-led corrosion management reflects a wider trend toward digitalisation across industry.
From Supplier to Strategic Partner
A clear message from exhibitors, suppliers and visitors alike was that customers increasingly want collaboration rather than transactions.
Technical expertise, testing support, application knowledge and process optimisation are becoming just as important as the products themselves. Organisations able to combine engineering expertise with practical implementation are well positioned to help customers improve efficiency, reduce lifecycle costs and strengthen asset reliability.
Looking Ahead
EUROCORR 2026 felt less like a traditional corrosion exhibition and more like a glimpse into the future of the industry. The direction of travel is clear: preventative, integrated, data-led and commercially focused corrosion management.
The organisations that add the most value will be those that help customers understand, prevent and control corrosion throughout the complete asset lifecycle, delivering measurable outcomes rather than simply supplying products.
For manufacturers, asset owners and engineers, the question is no longer: "How do we protect against corrosion?"
It's: "How do we build corrosion management into every stage of the asset journey?"
